Most seawall projects touch the dock or the lift. Plan them together and you avoid paying to do the same work twice.
When dock and lift work goes with the wall
If the wall is being replaced, the dock and lift often have to come out, at least partly, and go back in afterward. That can be a good moment to replace a tired dock or size up a lift instead of reinstalling the old one.
Make sure every seawall quote says plainly whether dock and lift removal and reinstallation are included.
What the county asks for on dock and lift permits
Charlotte County's permit page lists what a dock or boat lift site plan must show, including:
- All existing and proposed structures, and any easements
- The applicable high-water line
- The distance from the water line to the proposed structure extending seaward
- For properties with a seawall, the distance from the seawall to the water line
Your contractor prepares this. It helps to have your survey handy.
Get your wall looked at
Send a request and we will pass it to an independent licensed marine contractor who works Charlotte County canals. Have your address ready and, if you can, a few photos of the wall.
